How to make a suspended ceiling of any complexity from your plasterboard

Modern technology of finishing the premises with the help of plasterboard sheets has become very widespread. However, if the lining of the walls and the erection of the partitions does not bring much difficulty, the installation of ceilings from GKL, especially multilevel and complex, the occupation is very difficult. In this case, if you try hard and adhere to the competent technology, you can construct the most complicated ceiling with your own hands. How to make a suspended ceiling of any complexity from your plasterboard
ProfiDom.com.ua in the series of publications will tell about the technology of mounting a ceiling of any complexity of gypsum cardboard.

Practically, no repairs can be done without creating false ceilings. Among all the available options for plating, the most practical and functional has shown itself drywall. Using plasterboard systems, the developer has the ability to align the ceiling with any existing bending, to hold wires, ducts and other communications cables in the space between the peripheral space, to decorate the room with complex spatial forms.

One-level ceiling
The technology of seaming the ceiling in one level has many similar moments with the facings of walls plasterboard, here the same metal profile is used, the same principles are based on the installation. But there are also a lot of differences, we will try not to overlook them.

A simple lining in one tier is used very often, but even if it is planned to make a multi-level construction, it is first necessary to make a flat ceiling for the entire room, which will serve as the basis for further superstructures. It is rarely the case that a basic wiring is not needed, or it is logical to make it unbreakable.

What to do before: wall or ceiling? It is better to work on a ceiling after rough finishing of walls (covering, plaster), then it’s much easier to make markings and mount more complicated and demanding quality of the plane of the system, which is the suspended ceiling of gypsum cardboard. Before proceeding to work on the frame, you must perform some preparatory operations:

Develop drawings of the future of a complex ceiling and decide on the layout of all sheets and profiles (how is the framework going, let’s tell later).
Clear the base from the spillage elements, seal the joints between the slabs.
Indicate the location of the lighting fixtures and bring the cables to the points of the terminals.
Completely free the building from building materials.
Assemble drafts, with a total area of a horizontal surface not less than 3 m2 (as a standard sheet).
Permitting the perimeter of the ceiling
Our task is to indicate on the walls of the line by which we will install the UD-27 start profile. To mark the horizontal level immediately under the ceiling will not work – it is too inconvenient, therefore at a reasonable height (1,5-1,8 m) a control perimeter is made.

With a laser builder of planes or a hydro level (transparent hose filled with water), in each corner of the room, put a mark with a pencil, which should be in one, strictly horizontal plane. At each wall there should be a minimum of two risks, but we recommend placing one intermediate mark in the middle of the walls. It is not necessary to combine them with a reciprocating cord, but some masters prefer to have whole lines.

Roulette at different points measure the distance from the control perimeter (from the obtained lines or lines) to the bearing ceiling. Where this distance is the smallest – there is the lowest point of the base, from here we will mark the working perimeter.

If you need to cling to the ceiling as much as possible so as not to “eat” the height of the frame with the frame, then we step back from the base 40 mm (27 mm – UD + 13 mm – stock) and put at risk. We measure the distance from the risk to the control perimeter. Now, at this distance from the control perimeter we put other labels (we place them along the corners and along the centers of the walls – similar to the control). Under the ceiling with a rebound cord, from angle to angle, we apply lines. If you have moved everything and repelled correctly, the lines will coincide with the intermediate labels located along the centers of the walls.

Suppose the height of the room was 2.7 meters, we made the control perimeter 1.7 meters from the floor. Measurements have shown that we have 1 meter to the most cramped place on the ceiling, minus 40 mm to set the profile – we get 96 cm. As a result, all labels of the working perimeter should be at a distance of 96 cm from the reference perimeter.

Please note that so we inspect the rough ceiling only near the walls, but sometimes it happens that in the middle of the room there is a “blanket” on the ceiling or “tooth” along the docking plate. You can detect a problem at an early stage by using the rule or by pulling a cord in the plane of the working perimeter (a gap of at least 35-40 mm between the thread and the ceiling is required). When such fluctuations are detected, we lower the entire perimeter below. Also, when marking the perimeter, the thickness should be taken into account.
