Fastening elements in the facade insulation system

Among the most common, types of thermal insulation of facades, which were described in one of our previous publications, the method of “wet facade” is considered to be most effective and affordable.
Fastening elements in the facade insulation system

The growth of tariffs for utilities, for heating, has provoked the rapid development of façade insulation systems, which are abundantly presented in our market. However, among this wide range, you can see the most promoted brands, unjustifiably expensive, and systems of an unknown manufacturer, which are offered, literally for a penny.

As always, the truth lies somewhere in the middle and undoubtedly that the most effective and affordable (the optimal ratio of “price and quality”) is the system of facade isolation TM BauGut

In a nutshell, the method of insulation of the type “wet facade” – these are heat insulation boards (expanded polystyrene or mineral wool), which attach to the walls with special glue and dowels. The outer layer of a fixed heater is initially protected by a plaster-adhesive composition reinforced with a special glass netting, after which a decorative coating is applied.

We have already considered the overall structure of the “pie” that is formed when installing the system of facade insulation of TM BauGut. In addition, in the previous publication, some of the components of this system, in particular the primer and thermo-insulation mixtures, which are part of the facade insulation, were considered in detail.

Today, we are considering elements of fastening of facade insulation TM BauGut, such as dowels, reinforcing mesh made of fiberglass, glue foam

BauGut dowels
Plastic dowels are the most common elements of fastening of heat-insulating materials, – BauGut MWL basalt heat insulation panels or BauGut STIROPOR 25/35 foam polystyrene boards

The dowel itself consists of a resembling nail of a long tube with teeth on the tip and an enlarged cuff (“hat”) on the other end. Due to the characteristic features of the form, this product is also called “dyubel-mushroom”, and sometimes it is an “umbrella dowel”. The surface of the “cap” is perforated and serves as the basis for applying a solution or plaster. A shock-resistant spacer bar prevents the appearance of “cold bridges”

To the dowel is given, the so-called “nail”, which can be plastic or metal.

Reinforcing mesh BauGut ARG

One of the obligatory steps when creating a facade insulation TM BauGut is to cover the surface of the facade plaster alkaline-resistant mesh BauGut ARG, which prevents cracks, holds the plaster layer at a temperature difference, humidity or shrinkage of buildings.

It must be understood that, if you apply building mixtures without using a fiberglass mesh, then soon, it will start to crack and disappear. By themselves, plaster or glue composition is not able to cope with atmospheric pressure, sharp fluctuations in temperature, humidity of the air and, moreover, reinforcing the walls. Namely, glass fiber takes on the load, giving the finishing layer a durability.

Moreover, the cell size in the BauGut ARG grids may be different. For example, – 4×4 mm or 2,5×2,5 mm. Accordingly, the density of such grids: 145 g / m2 and 60 g / m2.

Installation of the reinforcing grid BauGut ARG does not cause any difficulties:

After processing the insulated façade with the BauGut KLA reinforcement composition for thermal insulation, the BauGut ARG mesh is trimmed to the required size and applied to a non-frozen surface;
Further, a wide spatula is taken, which is aligned with a glass net and, as it were, is pressed into the plaster that has just been put on;
After this, give time for the surface to dry well;
When installing the Fiberglass Mesh BauGut ARG, it is necessary to ensure that each strip is located on the previous strip with a bang 10-15 cm. Otherwise, cracking may occur during operation.
Foam adhesive BauGut TERMO FIX

One of the disadvantages of using dry mixes, in our case, BauGut KLT adhesive solution for bonding foam polystyrene slabs to the supporting wall, is the need to dilute this mixture with water, mix, wait for maturation, apply it to the wall by hand or machine, etc.

All this, if desired, can be avoided. All you need is to buy a foam glue BauGut TERMO FIX, which is used to fasten the elements of expanded polystyrene to most construction materials.
